Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - The household appliances, the electronic devices and the heating systems imported and sold in Moldova will have to meet the European standards as to the ecological designing requirements. The government today approved a decision to this effect, in order to back the cutting of the consumption of energy in the household sector, which has a significant share of the overall consumption of energy from Moldova.
The requirements introduced regard the optimization of the consumption of energy, enhancement of the products’ durability and providing of clear-cut information for consumers, so that they can choose efficient equipment from the energy and ecological viewpoints.
At the cabinet meeting, the secretary general at the Energy Ministry, Andrei Gritco, said that the amendments proposed were based on the need to adjust the national regulations to the new European standards applicable for a wide range of consumption products and equipment. Among them, there are the light sources, household appliances, electronic devices and diverse heating systems.
According to the initiative’s author, the main goal of the initiative is to support the cutting of the consumption of energy in the household sector, which has a significant share in the overall consumption of energy from Moldova. ‘’At the same time, the project contributes to the diminution of the energy poverty – a problems which presently affects a half of the country’s population. The products concerned in this project are fully imported; therefore, the observance of the standards of energy efficiency and environmental protection, established through European regulations, is essential for ensuring their compliance with the requirements of the domestic and international market,’’ Andrei Gritco said.
Through the implementation of these standards, decision-makers are set to achieve the goal of saving about 0.8 per cent per year till 2030. Also, according to the Energy Ministry, the regulations will support the citizens in the reducing of the costs of energy consumption in households.
