Moldovan government simplifies procedure of contracting distance legal assistance services

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - The government simplifies the procedure of contracting the distance legal assistance services. Thus, the form of the mandate of the lawyer and of the lawyer probationer will be able to be complied in form of electronic document, signed with the help of the qualified electronic signature. The provision is contained in a draft law approved by the government today.    

Till the amendment, the form of the lawyer’s mandate is printed on paper, with the putting of the lawyer’s stamp.   

At the cabinet meeting, Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said that the draft brought the justice closer to the Diaspora citizens, who need legal assistance for the settlement of situations which appear on the territory of Moldova.   

Thus, through the initiative approved today, the Justice Ministry modernizes and contributes to the digitalization of the quality legal services.  

The new regulation will support also the E-file – a platform which automates the process of submitting applications to court and the distribution of the materials in electronic format.  

According to the draft’s informative note, the lawyer will be obliged to keep the form of the mandate signed electronically at least till the fulfillment of all his/her obligations to the client, no matter whether they come from the contract on legal assistance, or from the decision of the coordinator of the Territorial Office of the National Office for the Legal Assistance Guaranteed by State.  

The draft sees also the establishment at the level of law of law of the Lawyer’s Day professional day, which will be annually marked on 9 September.
