Chisinau, Nov. 15 /MOLDPRES/- 120 schools will receive funding worth $ 36,000 under the improving education quality project. Parliament today ratified amendments to the loan agreement between our country and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
According to the amendments, all schools will be given fair opportunities, regardless of their capacities to access grants.
Thus, procurement processes and procedures under the selected school subprojects will be handed over to the Project management team, which will execute them according to the World Bank procurement rules.
The Ministry of Education and Research has identified possible risks, such as the lack of institutional capacity (knowledge, skills and experience) to effectively manage the procurement processes of goods and services from the Project grants. Moreover, some schools are not registered as public institutions and do not have treasury accounts, being at the public authorities' account.
Thanks to the project, our country is benefiting from a loan amounting to 49.6 million dollars, as well as grants worth 9.8 million dollars.
