Chisinau-based Nicolae Testemitanu Medical University to conclude memorandum with European Institute for medical Studies from Malta

Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) and the European Institute for Medical Studies of Malta (EIMS) will cooperate in the field of internationalization of the processes of education and extension of the academic offer. A Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions has been signed by the first Pro-rector, pro-rector for the teaching activity and academic management Olga Cernetchi and the academic director of the European Institute for Medical Studies of Malta, Andrea Mascolo.       

Following the signing of the document, Olga Cernetchi informed about the history of USMF and the development of the Stomatology Faculty during years. ‘’ The ensuring of the quality of education is a key point at the University. Presently, the Nicolae Testemitanu USMF puts emphasis on the updating of the syllabi, consolidation of the technical and material basis, endowment of the Faculty and the university stomatological clinics with advanced equipment, in order to provide the students with conditions for putting the knowledge gained into practice,’’ Cernetchi stressed.

I hope that this cooperation will give us opportunity to take over from the culture and professionalism of teaching staff, from the solid structure which you created in this sector during these years and I hope that the institution which I represent in the long run will be a point of connection with Europe for the university,’’ Andrea Mascolo said.   

The agreement provides for cooperation in the following fields: mutual recognition of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), in order to facilitate the academic mobility for students and teachers, joint development of programmes in stomatology, collaborative research in the stomatological education and medical sciences, cooperation for the working out of continuous medical education courses.
