Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova this year has doubled the export of apples to the European Union, proving an impressive increase of the fruit-growing sector, according to Deputy Prime Minister, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba.
„In the first ten months of this year, the value of our export of apples to the European Union amounted to 228 million lei – an impressive growth, twice as much against the same period of the year before,’’ Alaiba said.
According to the official, this success is the result of the dedication and extraordinary work of Moldovan farmers. ‘’We support them, providing them access to new, more extended and more competitive markets,’’ the quoted source also said.
Another decisive factor represents the prolongation of the liberalization of trade with EU by one more year – a measure which opens huge opportunities for the local producers in Moldova. ‘’The figures speak for themselves: the share of EU countries in the export of apples grew from 0.4 per cent in 2021 to 18 per cent in 2024. This progress represents more than just mere figures. This is a clear proof that our products are of high quality and can be a reason for national pride in the world,’’ the deputy PM added.
