Moldovan, EU officials approach current issues

Chisinau, Nov. 19 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a working meeting with Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga, European Union Special Representative in the Transnistrian settlement negotiations.
According to the Reintegration Office, the talks touched upon the main topics on the Transnistrian settlement agenda, as well as the current priorities in the country's reintegration, with particular attention being paid to Moldova's European integration efforts and its effects on the region, including the steps to be taken to ensure a high level of readiness of the eastern districts for the entire country's accession to the EU.
The officials agreed that Chisinau and Brussels will hold in-depth consultations to identify the best options for EU assistance to serve the needs of the Republic of Moldova in resolving its current problems in the interests of the people on both sides of the Dniester. In this regard, the European Union is alongside the constitutional authorities in order to strengthen joint efforts aimed at achieving the strategic objective of reintegration of the country.
Serebrian said that the positive development of the relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union in the new realities of our country's status as a candidate for accession will contribute to the irreversible drawing of the Transnistrian region into the European integration processes. To achieve this goal, Chisinau will continue to work closely with EU structures, which will follow their commitment to fully support our country on European path.
