Chisinau, Nov. 23 /MOLDPRES/- More than 10 thousand Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted in Romania's presidential elections by Saturday noon.
Romania's Central Electoral Bureau announced that 66,012 voters, of whom 46.15% women and 53.85% men, had cast their ballots in the first round of the presidential elections in polling stations abroad and by post, by Saturday at 12 noon.
Higher voter turnout was recorded in the Republic of Moldova - 10,692 voters, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - 9,643, Italy - 8,186, Germany - 8,105, Spain - 6,708.
Voting eligible Romanian citizens in the diaspora can vote in the presidential elections in Romania in the 950 polling stations organized abroad or by post.
Voting abroad for the first round of the presidential elections will take place over three days: from Friday until Sunday, November 24, between 7:00 and 21:00.
In the first round of the presidential elections, Romanians have a choice of 14 candidates, two of whom, receiving the highest number of votes, will compete for the highest office in the country in the runoff.
