Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova can rely on Romania in all circumstances. Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu gave assurances to this effect at a today’s reception given on the occasion of the marking of the National Day of Romania on 1 December.
His Excellency emphasized that the entire European family had widely opened its doors for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
The full speech of Ambassador Cristian-Leon Turcanu at the reception dedicated to the National Day of Romania:
„Mrs. President,
Your Excellences,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I am particularly honoured that you are with us this year as well, in order to celebrate the National Day of Romania together. We, the Romanians, on 1 December celebrate the freedom to be united, the right to think freely and choose our future democratically.
Today, we also celebrate Moldova’s victory to choose its own fate and a really pro-European president, despite the external interferences and pressures, which have threatened and threaten the essence of the democracy itself, respectively, the right to elect freely.
Two years ago, I was speaking here, on the same occasion, about the difficult regional context, about the cruel and illegal war waged by Russia against the Ukrainian nation.
So, more than 1,000 days have passed and Moscow continues to attempt to impose its will by force and to kill innocent civilians.
Russia continues its actions of propaganda, spreads lies, buys votes and does its utmost to change destinies, as part of the hybrid war in Moldova. Yet, we are strong together. The Republic of Moldova stays, through the will of its citizens and through the support of international partners, on the good side of the history.
During these 1,000 days, we have proved that we are more resilient together. We proved that we can build together the European future of Moldova. During these 1,000 days, we showed that we can construct bridges together, can bring clean water to people’s homes, can carry children to school in safety, can create economic opportunities. Together, we can ensure the energy security and also together we are, in continuation, with our Ukrainian friends.
The great European family has widely opened its doors to Moldova’s citizens and Moldova started moving on the European path. The integration is not a simple process, but surely it is worth it, as the European Union brings with it prosperity, better paid jobs, respect for each citizen, preservation of the identity and the protection of the traditions.
This is the future about which each citizen dreams. But it must not remain only a dream. It must become reality and for this, for the next generations to benefit from a better life, it is necessary that all of us work together. Only in this way, Moldova’s way towards the European integration will be one with blue sky.
Romania is the partner on which the Republic of Moldova can rely in all circumstances. We have proved this by concrete deeds. The Romanians have got, with huge sacrifices, the right to join the democratic community and we want Moldova also to be part of the great European family, to which it belongs de jure. We will work, in continuation, for this desideratum and we will succeed all together.
Congratulations, Romanians!
Congratulations, Romania!’’
