Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ - Romania is willing to help Moldova in case of an energy crisis, just as it did it two years ago as well. Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu has made statements to this effect in an interview given exclusively with the MOLDPRES Agency.
The Romanian ambassador noted that any energy crisis due to emerge in Moldova would be triggered by Russia. ‘’We are prepared to support Moldova, if needed. I dare to say that any energy crisis which might take place will be triggered by Russia,’’ Cristian-Leon Turcanu said.
The Romanian diplomat condemned Russia’s war against Ukraine and the Ukrainian citizens, noting that it hit the security of Moldova. ‘’I think that the best measure to protect us is to enhance the degree of our resilience – Moldova, Romania, as well as the other states from the region,’’ the ambassador said.
Cristian-Leon Turcanu welcomed the choice made by the Moldovan citizens at the referendum and the presidential elections and gave assurances that Romania would continue backing Moldova on the European integration way. ‘’This is a victory of the freedom to choose a better, more prosperous future, a future in peace and security. (…) For the next year, we will continue backing this particularly ambitious goal of Moldova – integration into the European Union. At the same time, we will carry out a string of quite practical actions, meant to support the efforts in everything means the pre-accession period,’’ the ambassador of Romania said.
On the eve of the marking of Romania’s National Day, Cristian-Leon Turcanu also came up with a message for Moldova’s citizens: ‘’I wish the citizens from this bank of Prut to as soon as possible enjoy everything which means the European Union – peace and prosperity.’’
