More Moldovan agricultural enterprises to benefit from 5-million-lei-worth grant

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Thirty three agricultural enterprises will benefit from 5.3-million-lei-worth grants within a World Bank-financed programme, according to a press release by the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry.
The concerned companies will be able to return for themselves up to 50 percent of the resources used for purchasing agricultural equipment, such as precision seed sowers, multi-functional cultivators, watering pots for inoffensive application of plant protection substances, etc.
”One of the basic objectives of the grant programme is to maintain and enhance the soil's fertility by implementing environmentally friendly practices. Therefore, when selecting programme beneficiaries in the log run, priority will be given to farmers who have implemented agricultural practices of sustainable maintenance of the soil,” Grant Programme Coordinator Olga Sainciuc has said in her comment in the results of the first appeal.
Two rounds of selecting files for participating in the Sustainable Land Management Programme were organised in 2014, the first year of the programme's implementation. Forty two files were submitted in the first round and over 80 in the second one.
The grants will be disbursed to the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture in the nearest future.
