Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union expects the Moldovan government to undertake concrete actions, based on reforms in all sectors, depoliticizing of the state’s institutions and liberalization of the economic market, MEP Petras Austrevicius said upon a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

According to the European official, Moldova needs another agenda for implementing reforms, as the country is to be assessed according to concrete actions.

“It is necessary to investigate the bank fraud, depoliticize the state’s institutions, especially the law enforcement ones. We speak out for the participation of more candidates in contests for occupying state leadership posts, not of only one,” Petras Austrevicius said.

“The sooner decisions on implementing reforms are taken, the more quickly EU will take attitude. Commitments and dialogue are needed. We are waiting for the first visit by the mission of the International Monetary Fund to Moldova, as the signing of the memorandum will be a sign of international trust,” Austrevicius noted.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that the European support mattered a lot for Moldova, and the government he leads would do its utmost to regain the confidence of the foreign partners. “We understand that we will be judged not by  words, but by the deeds we will undertake. The government’s work is aimed at regaining the trust of the citizens and foreign partners. The maintenance of the European integration, enforcing the Association Agreement and the overcoming of the crisis situation remain priorities,” Pavel Filip said.

European MP Petras Austrevicius pays a 8-11 February fact-collecting visit to Moldova. On 9 February, the MEP had a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti, within which the sides discussed the agenda of implementing the Association Agreement, signed by Moldova and the European Union.
