New contingent of Moldovan servicemen to be detached to Kosovo

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - The eleventh contingent of the National Army will leave for Kosovo on 9 June 2019. A ceremony of detachment took place at the Defence Ministry today, attended by ambassadors and military attachés from more countries.
Attending the event, Defence Minister Eugen Sturza thanked the Italian and American partners for the preparation, logistic ensuring and carriage of the National Army’s strength to Kosovo. Sturza noted that, through participation in KFOR, Moldova proved its commitment to contribute to the regional and global security, taken five years ago.
„The operation for which you have been selected is an opportunity to represent with dignity the National Army, Moldova and the profession of military – a profession which we, with so much effort, try to rehabilitate and make it prestigious and attractive again,” Sturza added.
The eleventh contingent of the National Army is made up of 41 professional military, of which one general staff officer, seven engineers and a platoon of 33 servicemen, who will fulfill missions of security and guard of military objects and patrol.
The contingent will be deployed at the multinational base Camp Vilaggio Italia from the settlement Pech, Kosovo. The military’s mandate will last six months.
