Moldovan police detained two investigation officers

Chisinau, 12 September /MOLDPRES/- A head of department of the National Inspectorate of Investigation (INI) and his subordinate were detained by police, following searches conducted today in a case of influence peddling and passive corruption.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office announced that the searches were carried out in the office of the chief and the homes and cars of the two officers.
The subordinate would have claimed and received about 15 thousand euros from an economic agent. In exchange for the money, he was going to force his boss not to send the materials for starting a criminal trial on the fact of committing the tax evasion by the trader. After receiving the money, the latter was not held liable.
Both officers were detained for 72 hours in the isolation of the National Anticorruption Center. The investigations in this case are ongoing.
