Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today approved the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of an MP of the Shor Party, Petru Jardan, at a request by acting Prosecutor General Dumitru Robu. The lawmaker was absent from the parliament meeting and 58 MPs voted for stripping him off immunity.
Today morning, the acting prosecutor general demanded the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of lawmaker Petru Jardan within the juridical commission for rules and immunities and the commission backed the request.
In a speech given at the plenary meeting, acting Prosecutor General Dumitru Robu said that “there is conclusive evidence that Jardan was involved in the committing of the offence of abuse of office and money laundering in particularly large sums, as well as in unlawful acts committed in the process of granting the airport to concession.”
The parliamentary majority has earlier lift the parliamentary immunity of Ilan Shor, sentenced by the first instance court in the bank fraud file, as well as of MPs Marina Tauber, Reghina Apostolova and Vladimir Cebotari.
