Parliaments of Moldova, Belarus to deepen bilateral relations

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/- Moldova is interested in an open, constructive and pragmatic dialogue, in the interest of the inhabitants of our country, with all external partners, both in the West and in the East, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii said at a meeting with Vladimir Andreicenko, head of the House of Representatives of Belarus, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
"The relations at the level of heads of state are very good, it would be good to establish closer contacts also on the parliamentary dimension," the official said. Greceanii invited Belarusian counterpart to pay an official visit to the Republic of Moldova.
The sides agreed to extend and deepen the bilateral relations at parliamentary level on relevant commissions and friendship groups. In this context, the need to expand economic cooperation between the two countries, including liberalizing freight, was underlined. In particular, it was approached the involvement of Belarusian companies in infrastructure projects, investments in production in Moldova in terms of export opportunities on the European market, as well as the export of agricultural products. It should be mentioned that in 2018, the trade volume between Moldova and Belarus amounted to 215.288 million dollars.
The officials were unanimous in the cooperation on the regional and international platforms, as well as in the need to support the integration processes on the continent. Good cooperation and mutual support in international organizations was emphasized and openness for further collaboration was expressed.
The meeting took place in the margins of the Forum of speakers from the Eurasian countries ”Greater Eurasia: Dialog. Trust. Partnership” which is held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, on September 23-24.
The meeting was attended by deputy speakers Mihail Popșoi and Alexandru Slusari. Attending the speakers forum are speakers from 65 countries in Europe and Asia, as well as heads of 14 international and interparliamentary organizations.
