Energy regulatory authorities of Moldova, Romania to boost cooperation

Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/ - The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) and the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority signed the Programme on Cooperation and Assistance today. The document was signed by ANRE Director General Veaceslav Untila and the head of the Romanian Authority, Dumitru Chirita, on a working visit to Chisinau.
The programme’s goal is develop and boost the bilateral cooperation, in order to take over the best practices in the regulation of the energy sector, as well as implementation of the European and international standards. The document regards the following sectors of responsibility: electric energy sector, natural gas sector, thermal and energy sector, licencing, monitoring and control of licenced activities, legal and consumers’ protection issues, energy supervision, information technologies field, international cooperation and communication.
The cooperation between the two public authorities will include periodical meetings at the level of the authorities’ leadership or the subordinated structures, exchange of experience and providing support for the working out and improvement of the national legislative and normative regulatory framework in the energy sector through the light of Romania’s experience as European Union member state, joint projects, with the attraction of European funds available, study visits, trainings or probations for employees, participations in conferences, meetings, seminars and other actions organized with the support of international partners.
The signing of the Programme on Cooperation and Assistance will contribute to the fostering of the dialogue between the two institutions and will open new prospects for a fruitful cooperation in the long run.
