Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - President of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) Ion Druta was detained for 72 hours today. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office has made statements to this effect.
According to the quoted source, the magistrate was detained after he had been heard by law-enforcement bodies, being suspected of illegal enrichment.
Prosecutors said that the detaining had taken place on the ground of “discovery of objects capable to confirm the reasonable suspicion as for the committing of the illegal enrichment deed during searches at the office and home of the CSJ president.”
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office noted that Ion Druta had tendered resignation from the office of CSJ president; yet, the Superior Council of Magistracy did not accept his application.
