New rector of Nicolae Testemitanu University of Medicine and Pharmacy

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/- Emil Ceban is the new rector of the Nicolae Testemitanu University of Medicine and Pharmacy /USMF/. He was elected on 2 October with the majority vote of the university community.

Seven candidates, all professors in medicine, applied for the contest for rector position of the USMF.

Following the voting procedure, about 62.5% of the members of the university community opted for Emil Ceban, holding the office of Vice-Rector of USMF and Head of the department of urology and surgical nephrology.

The new rector will be confirmed in office for a five-year term by order of the founder - the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova, within three months.

Ion Ababii was the rector of the USMF until 2 October.
