Moldova attends Assembly of Interparliamentary Union

Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/- The Republic of Moldova participates in the 141st Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU) and related meetings, held on 15-17 October in Belgrade, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The agenda of the event includes several issues related to interparliamentary cooperation at global level, including the strengthening of international law and the role and contribution of parliaments to regional cooperation; the role of legislative bodies in ensuring the right to health; reports of the standing committees for international peace and security; for sustainable development, finance and trade; for United Nations business.
Moldova is represented by Victor Bologan, head of the parliamentary delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Bologan will deliver a speech in the general debates on strengthening international law: parliamentary roles and mechanisms, as well as the contribution of regional cooperation.
The IPU is the global organization of national parliaments, based in Geneva, which brings together 179 parliaments and 12 associate members. This year, IPU marks the 130th anniversary.
