Fruit producer from Transnistrian region of Moldova firstly obtains certificate GLOBALG.A.P.

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ – A company specialised in fruit production in Grigoriopol city, the Transnistrian region, has become the first agricultural company on the left bank of the Dniester river to be certified GLOBALG.A.P., which confirms the compliance with the food safety requirements in the process of fruit production. The company has already passed successfully the audit and it is waiting to obtain the certificate.
The compliance with GLOBALG.A.P. is a mandatory requirement for export – oriented farmers in the EU member states. GLOBALG.A.P. covers the entire production process, from the selection of agricultural land to the delivery of fruits and vegetables to the market. Thus, the implementation of the GLOBALG.A.P standard assures the buyer that fruits and vegetables are safe for consumption, by minimising the negative effects on environment, reducing the used plant protection products, a responsible approach to healthcare and safety of employees.
The company from the Transnistrian region, which will be certified GLOBALG.A.P., works over 6,000 ha, which mainly produces cereals. The company also has about 138 ha of super – intensive orchard of apples, apricots, plums and cherries, which started to be planted in 2017.
In Moldova, the standards of GLOBALG.A.P. have been implemented for 15 years, and since then almost 50 agricultural producers have been certified, most of them have reconfirmed yearly their compliance with corresponding requirements.
