Working group to identify solutions to optimize Moldova's national data processing mechanism

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today summoned a meeting to consider objections to the procedures of the National Centre for Personal Data Processing (CNPDCP). Decision-makers from institutions involved in the process: Justice Ministry, Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), Public Services Agency (ASP), Electronic Governance Agency, economic council, state secretaries and advisers of PM, participated in the meeting, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The participants in the meeting tackled difficulties in the process of public institutions’ interaction with the aforementioned Centre.
The authorities signaled a string of problems they face in the process of transmitting and getting personal data between institutions, because of the excessive procedures and abusive interpretations of the legislation by decision-makers from the Centre.
The participants in the meeting spoke out for amending the draft law on the processing of the personal data, considered by the parliament at present. They reasoned that the provisions were tougher than the ones enforced in EU. These approaches will create hindrances to the development of the private sector and the financial one.
The decision-makers noted that the excessive protection of the personal data hindered the economic development, digitalization of the public services, stagnated innovation projects and automation of processes. Therefore, it is necessary to revise the legislation to this end and establish clear-cut regulations of implementing the stipulations, without room for interpretations.
The prime minister stressed the need to revise the CNPDCP’s powers, maximum of openness on behalf of the centre’s leadership for cooperation with other institutions in improving the data processing. Ion Chicu instructed to create a working group due to identify solutions to optimize the national data processing mechanism, through revising the current legislation and the one under promotion, so that this allows developing services in Moldova.
