Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon accompanied by presidential advisers visited the Memorial of the victims of fascism in Chisinau on Monday. The 75th anniversary of liberation by the Red Army of Auschwitz death camp was celebrated yesterday. The UN has previously declared the day of January 27 to commemorate Holocaust victims. In Moldova this date is officially marked since 2016, following a parliament decision of November 2015, the presidential press service has reported.
Dodon said we must oppose attempts to promote new interpretations of the history of the World War II and, in particular, to eradicate war criminals, given that this issue is a sensitive one for Moldova, where during the war, about 300 thousand Jews were killed.
