Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu attended today the International Conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Attending event were President Igor Dodon, Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi, President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio, members of the Constitutional Court, judges, ambassadors and members of civil society.
Chicu conveyed a congratulatory message to the representatives of the Constitutional Court on the challenges faced and the expectations of people.
"We cannot claim a perfect path, but it is absolutely necessary to learn and make conclusions. The Constitutional Court has the mission to ensure the rule of law. People have low confidence in the justice system. Our primary task is to restore this trust. I am glad that the Court is guided by the law and I am sure it will become a centre of wisdom and balance, ” he said.
The premier said that the current priority is to strengthen the public confidence in the Constitutional Court and urged the members and the team to stay focused on the mission, regardless of storms that the society and country will go through.
