Moldovan president meets Interior Ministry management

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon had a meeting with leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Saturday.
According to the presidential press service, Minister Pavel Voicu informed the head of state that the MAI staff is coping on the need to patrol the streets, parks and other public places in areas of the country. Yet, police officers are working at the limit of possibilities, as they have to perform the function of preventing crime and identifying those who commit them.
According to the information of the Minister of the Interior, so far 1,040 reports have been set up on private people, economic agents and transport companies. As a rule, it is about people who have violated the quarantine regime, public food establishments continuing their activity despite the strict prohibition, transport of passengers where the number of people inside the unit is higher than allowed.
Separately it was pointed out that if these violations result in infecting people with coronavirus, criminal cases will be opened on behalf of these citizens, and in case of death of the infected person, the penalty could be up to seven years imprisonment.
The officials approached the issue on control of our citizens who continue to return to the Republic of Moldova from abroad. They make a commitment to fill in the epidemiological sheet with personal information, including home address. Thus, the person coming to Moldova is obliged to be at the indicated address, where he will be under the supervision of the doctors for 14 days. There have already been 10 cases of violation of quarantine regime and on behalf of these persons, contravention files have been opened.
The head of state thanked the MAI management for sacrifice, alongside doctors in combating the spread of the virus, urging them to continue to demonstrate firmness and consistency in this situation.
