Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/- Grape harvest 2020: features and recovery was the motto of a specialized national conference, organized today under the aegis of the National Office of Vine and Wine. Participants discussed several issues related to winemaking grapes in drought conditions and oenological potential feature this year.
"This agricultural year is a difficult one, emerging from the conditions of drought and pandemic crisis. In this context, the organization of the conference is opportune to make rational and balanced decisions around the campaign of harvesting, purchasing and processing of wine grapes. Through joint efforts, we must ensure the full harvest and purchase of grapes in a timely manner, as well as take necessary measures to reduce the consequences of drought on the condition of vineyards before the cold season, " Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Perju said.
He informed about the actions taken by the government to support agricultural producers and processors, noting "wine institutions are under identifying solutions to reduce the consequences of drought and pandemic COVID-19 on the activity of producers in the agri-food sector."
This year, the costs of caring for vineyards are higher than in the previous year and the cost price of European wine grapes is increasing (by about 6-10%).
This year, the event reached the fourth edition. Due to the pandemic, it was held online.
