United Nations Development Programme supports Moldova in overcoming crisis triggered by COVID-19

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Resident Representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Moldova Dima Al-Khatib, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state was informed about the projects implemented in Moldova with the UNDP’s help, among which the ones on assistance for development of small- and medium-sized enterprises or on local development. The officials also discussed the diversification of the cooperation fields, with emphasis put on the UNDP’s response to the Covid-19 crisis, support for the economic improvement, combating and preventing corruption.
„Along with Mrs. Dima Al-Khatib, we agreed to see how UNDP can help us to be efficient in combating Covid-19 and at the phase of residents’ vaccination, how to develop the communities in carrying out projects locally, how to create more jobs in our villages, so that the Moldovans want to return home,’’ Maia Sandu said.
Dima Al-Khatib has been holding the office of UNDP resident Representative in Moldova since 24 March 2019.
