Regular passenger transport to be ceased all over Moldova on 23 February

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ -The Employers’ Association of Road Transport Operators (APOTA) today informed that the regular passenger transport would be ceased all over Moldova on 23 February, including the private transport (which accounts for over 50 per cent of the capacity) in the Chisinau municipality.     

„The regular passenger transport next week will be ceased all over the country, including in the capital; the decision is a reaction the imposing of fines for the infringement of the point 4.4 of the Decision No 45 of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission (CNESP),’’ APOTA said.   

CNESP’s Decision No 45 from 15 February 2021 ruled to limit the number of people in the road and railway transport. ‘’The point 4.4 of the Annex to the Decision No 35 of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission from 27 November 2020 is set forth in the following version: the limiting of the number of people in the railway and road transport in the district and inter-district traffic to 50 per cent of the capacity and in the road transport in the local and municipal traffic – within the limit of 50 per cent of the embarkation capacity,’’ the Commission’s decision reads.  

At the same time, on 17 February, with the entrance into force of CNESP’s provisions, the police boosted the actions of monitoring the observance of the restrictions on the prevention of the COVID-19 virus. Policemen patrol again nearby commercial markets, in places of public access, leisure areas, stations and bus terminals and will intervene by asking citizens to observe the protection measures and the public transport drivers to limit the number of people, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.   

Till 15 April this year, the emergency state in the public health sector remains in force in Moldova. On this period, more restrictions are maintained, which have been earlier established and new ones were included, because of the alarming situation which stays in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The decisions by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission are executory for the central and local public administration authorities.  

The non-observance of the public health measures, set forth in the present Decision, represents danger for the public health and will serve as reason for calling the guilty people to contravention/criminal account.
