Moldovan president discusses with Leader of European People's Party in European Parliament

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today evening had a video conference Leader of the European People's Party in the European Parliament Manfred Weber. The two officials discussed the current political developments, as well as the pandemic situation in Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.   

„We talked about Moldova’s efforts to start the institutional reforms and in the justice sector, as well as the difficult pandemic situation in the country and the European Union states, where Moldovan fellow countrymen live,’’ Maia Sandu said.   

The head of state reiterated that Moldova relied on the European Union’s political and economic support in the process of post-pandemic economic recovery, including in the next financial cycle, 2021-2027, presently elaborated by the European institutions. ‘’I said that this support is needed, in order to rescue our farmers and the small businesses, as well as to help low-income people, whom the crisis has made even poorer,’’ Maia Sandu stressed.
