Moldovan acting PM participates in enlarged meeting of College of Intelligence and Security

Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/ - The results for the 2020 year and the priorities set for this year today were unveiled at an enlarged meeting of the College of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Attending the event were President Maia Sandu, SIS director Alexandru Esaulenco, the head of the parliament’s commission for national security, defence and public order, Sergiu Sirbu, Secretary General of the Supreme Security Council Ana Revenco, the College members, the heads of the institution’s subdivisions.
While presenting the report on the activity for 2020, SIS director Alexandr Esaulenco said that the institution had recorded an increase of the result indexes. In particular, he highlighted the ensuring of the prompt reaction in removing the danger triggered by the pandemic crisis. In this respect, the SIS employees undertook a string of measures, both informative and to prevent the risks related, establishing the reaction algorithms, proliferation of fake news concerning the pandemic and 61 anonymous information sources were blocked.
At the same time, in 2020, SIS initiated over 420 investigations, with the most combative activity fields being the ones of counter-information insurance of the national economy and counter-espionage. The strategic goals on these levels regarded the counteracting of domestic and external factors which jeopardize the energy security, stability of the financial market, national public budget and disadvantaging of Moldova’s citizens.
Among the main objectives set for this year, there is the combating of the corruption phenomenon, carrying out of pro-active measures on problems related to the Transnistrian conflict, annihilating the risks to Moldova’s national security, etc.
Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi thanked the employees of the Intelligence and Security Service for the contribution brought to the detection and counteraction of the risks to the state’s security and reiterated the need to use all legal leverages to counteract the actions of liming the efficiency and functionality of the state bodies. The acting PM urged to undertake all necessary measures to strengthen Moldova’s national security.
