Moldova's Presidency organizes joint meeting of representatives of banking system, farmers

Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/ - The presidential institution today organized a joint meeting of representatives of the banking system and farmers from Moldova, at an initiative by President Maia Sandu, the presidential press service has reported.  

„We together looked for solutions to support the agriculture sector after the double strike from the last year: the Covid crisis and the drought. We established that the state’s involvement in the settlement of problems must be more efficient. We agreed that the fittest solution for the farmers, as well as companies from other sectors badly hit by the crisis is to create a credits’ guarantee fund,’’ Maia Sandu said.    

According to the head of state, the creation of this fund will diminish the risks for banks and will provide to farmers access to resources for financing agricultural works.

„The previous government did quite a little to help the national economy during crisis. The state must urgently and responsibly intervene to rescue jobs, businesses and entire sectors which bring value added,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
