15 schools, 261 classes operating remotely due to quarantine

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/- Fifteen (1.20%) general education institutions and 261 classes (1.62%) in the country work remotely due to quarantine, as of 19 February. The number of pupils tested positive for COVID-19 is 363 (0.11%) and 6,602 (1.67%) were placed in self-isolation, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) has reported.
According to the institution, 317 (1.18%) teachers were positively confirmed with the new Coronavirus and 319 (1.19%) are in isolation. 119 (0.58%) of the non-teaching and auxiliary staff were infected with the new virus, and another 120 (0.59%) are in self-isolation.
"In technical vocational education, on 15-19 February, 27 pupils tested positive for the Sars-Cov-2 virus, 28 teachers and 15 non-teaching and auxiliary staff were registered. Also, 20 groups of pupils are placed in self-isolation ", MECC said.
In higher education, on 15-19 February, there are 16 students tested positive with Covid-19, in self-isolation there are 24. At the same time, 18 teachers were tested positive with the new Coronavirus, and three people were placed in self-isolation. Of the non-teaching and auxiliary staff, 18 people were infected, and two were placed in quarantine.
In early education, 18 (1.20%) kindergartens and 48 (0.71%) groups of children are in quarantine. The children confirmed positive with COVID-19 virus are 26 (0.02%), and another 1815 (1.21%) are in self-isolation. 103 (0.80%) teachers were positively confirmed with the new Coronavirus, 158 (1.23%) are in self-isolation. Of the non-teaching and auxiliary staff, 84 (0.45%) people were infected with the new virus, and another 170 (0.91%) are in self-isolation.
MECC urges managers of education institutions, teachers and pupils to further comply with all measures of protection against COVID-19.
