School Olympiads to take place in Moldova as of 27 February

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) today informed about the organization of district/municipal Olympiads for the general education institutions starting from 27 February.

According to MECC, the zonal Olympiads for the vocational schools will begin on the same date.

„The Olympiads will be held with the physical presence of people at the headquarters of the centres for holding the written exams,’’ the ministry said.

In the context, the Education, Culture and Research Ministry worked out instructions on the measures of prevention and control of the COVID-19 infection, enforced when holding the school Olympiads at education disciplines; the instructions will be soon brought to the knowledge of the local specialty bodies in the education sector and the vocational schools.

In early February, the ministry informed that the school Olympiads scheduled for the 2020-2021 school year had been postponed for an indefinite period, till the epidemiological situation allows this. Subsequently, more parents, pupils and teachers asked for the holding of Olympiads locally, respectively, nationally, as they represent a necessary stage for the participation in regional and international Olympiads.
