Ancient jewelry collections of Chisinau-based museum presented at virtual exhibition

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ - The National History Museum of Moldova (MNIM), in partnership with Arbor Institute for Culture, today opened an exhibition titled, Ancient Jewelry. Treasures of the National History Museum of Moldova. The exhibition is hosted by  www.Theopen-art.com, the first platform of art exhibitions in virtual reality in Moldova.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the museum’s deputy director, Mariana Vasilache, said that those 24 jewelry pieces displayed at this virtual exhibition, covered , from the chronological viewpoint, the time interval between the fifth millennium BC and the 8th century AD, and even if all of them come from archaeological researches of sites between the Prut and Dniester rivers, their origin lead us to communities which lived between Balkans and Carpathians up to Caucasus, which communicated and had trade relations in the area from the north Black Sea. The objects selected in this exhibition are rare, exceptional pieces, made by our ancestors in metal and precious stones, of great cultural, historic and artistic value.     

In the last years, the archaeological heritage of Moldova has been turned to account at more important international exhibitions, organized in partnership with European museums and from beyond the Ocean, such as the exhibition, Cucuteni-Trypillia, Una Grande Civilta dell’ Antica Europa“, in Vatican, exhibition, The Lost World of Old Europe. The Danube Valley, 5000-3500 BC“, staged in New York (USA), Oxford (United Kingdom) and Athens (Greece), „KRIEG – Eine Archaeologishe Spurensuche“, in Halle (Germany), and „Wisigoths. Rois de Toulouse“, in Toulouse (France). In Romania the Museum’s heritage was part of important topic-related exhibitions in Bucharest, Iasi, Suceava, Braila, Vaslui, Alba Iulia.

The exhibition will be opened till 31 December 2021.
