General Inspectorate for Emergencies submits first version in Botanica explosion

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/- The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations / IGSU / submitted today the first version in case of the explosion last night in the apartment building on 12/1 Independenței Street. According to experts, the explosion was caused by violating the rules for the operation of gas equipment.

According to IGSU, this morning, the Experimental Fire Laboratory and specialists of Risk Prevention Directorate of IGSU are on the spot.

A powerful explosion occurred on the evening of 22 February in the common kitchen on the second floor of a six-level building on 12/1 Independenței Street. Following this, four people, including three minors, arrived at the hospital. The one-year-old and ten-year-olds suffered injuries, being outside the block at the time of the explosion, and the sixteen-year-old boy received first, second and third degree burns on his hands, chest and face, being in the room where the explosion occurred. A woman who was also outside the block had injuries. The circumstances of the case are being investigated by law enforcement bodies.
