Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - Another 30 beds have been activated at the Chisinau-based Holy Trinity hospital for treating patients infected with COVID-19.

The Chisinau city hall informs that, starting from today, 30 new beds had been reactivated for patients tested positive for coronavirus at the Holy Trinity municipal hospital – strategic institution specialized in treating Covid patients. Thus, the institution will have a capacity of 300 beds for the COVID patients.

At the same time, the third pavilion, with 80 beds, will be activated at the COVID-19 Chisinau Centre at Moldexpo exhibition centre, where patients suspected with coronavirus will be treated. Also, the rooms of the other two pavilions, already functional, will be turned into stationary zones for the treatment of patients confirmed positive.

Thus, 420 beds for patients will be at the COVID-19 Chisinau Centre; this will be the strategic point with the biggest hospitalization capacity in Moldova.

The decision on increase the number of beds for the patients diagnosed with COVID-19 at the Chisinau-based strategic institutions was taken after the situation as to the infections had worsened in the last weeks and, respectively, the problem of insufficiency of places in hospitals reappeared.

The Moldovan capital’s authorities urge the citizens from Chisinau to help the medical system save lives and not extenuate the medical staff. The measures of protection against COVID-19 remain the same: hands’ hygiene, compulsory wearing of masks and avoiding agglomerated places. In case of symptoms, citizens are called on to contact the family physician or call 112.

As many as 178,540 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Moldova so far. A number of 3,823 have died because of complications triggered by the new-type coronavirus, of whom 87 medical employees.
