Moldovan acting PM has meeting with representatives of United Nations, World Health Organization

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a meeting with United Nations Resident Coordinator in Moldova Simon Springett and the head of the World Health Organization’s office in the country, Igor Pokanevych. The main subject of the discussion was the management of the Covid-19 pandemic locally and globally, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

Aureliu Ciocoi set forth the present situation, as to the evolution of the epidemiological situation in Moldova and expressed concern about the alarming tendency of infection. The acting PM noted that the public authorities in charge undertook all need measures to enhance the capacities of the medical system and prevent and limit the spread of the virus.    

The sides assessed the level of preparation of the competent institutions in terms of implementation of the national plan on anti-Covid immunization of the residents. The officials found out that the public authorities with powers in the medical sector, under the aegis and coordination of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, continued undertaking needed measures and were prepared to start the national vaccination campaign.

The participants in the meeting also tackled the subject of Moldova’s supply with anti-Covid-19 vaccine and brought for discussion more ways of the country’s provision with anti-Covid-19 vaccine.

Simon Springett and Igor Pokanevych gave assurances that UN and WHO would continue backing Moldova in the efforts to combat the pandemic situation.
