Romanian government rules to provide first installment of 20,000 vaccine doses to Moldova

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government of Romania today informed about the approval of an urgency ordinance, under which an assistance due to be immediately provided to Moldova was regulated. This assistance is made up of 20,000 vaccine doses as first installment out of the 200,000 doses of vaccine promised by Romania.
President Maia Sandu made an announcement to this effect on her official page. ‘’These vaccine doses will be enough to immunize all medical staff. We are grateful for President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister of Romania Florin Citu and the Romanian nation for the donation of vaccine and the huge solidarity they prove,’’ Sandu wrote.
During his visit to Chisinau, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis announced a big package of support for Moldova, including an assistance of 200,000 anti-COVID vaccine doses.
According to data provided by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), the first consignments of vaccine might be brought to Moldova in the end of February. It is about 24,570 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and 264,000 doses produced by Oxford/AstraZeneca. MSMPS received the confirmation of the delivery of vaccines on behalf of the COVAX platform on 30 January.
