Artists from six countries to participate in 55th issue of Martisor International Music Festival

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - Artists from Germany, Romania, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and Moldova will participate in the 55th issue of the Martisor International Music Festival, due in Chisinau on 1-10 March.   

At a today’s news conference, Education, Culture and Research Minister Lilia Pogolsa said that, traditionally, the festival would be inaugurated on 1 March through a concert titled, Mărgăritare (Pearls). Artistic forces of Moldova will be involved in the show, including master Eugen Doga, who marks his birthday on 1 March, master Nicolae Botgros, Zdob si Zdub band, the symphony orchestras of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic and Teleradio-Moldova Public Company, Orchestra of the National Chamber Choir, Doina Choir Chapel, Brio Sonores band, etc.    

According to the official, the 55th issue of the festival will comprise 16 music shows, within which the most renowned artistic bands from Moldova, as well as singers will perform.

For the first time ever, a concert of the festival will be dedicated to physicians from Moldova, who fought for the lives and health of Moldovans in the last year in an unequal fight. The concert will take place on 2 March at 18:00 and is occasioned by the centenary of the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla.

Also on 2 March, a symphony concert titled, Gala of Soloists, will be held at the Palace of the Republic on 18:00.

The 55th issue of the Martisor Festival will end on 10 March with a show titled, At Anniversary Time, by the Joc National Academic Ensemble of Folk Dances. On the same day, a concert of Baroque music of baritone Andrei Jilihovschi (Moldova-Russia) and the National Chamber of Orchestra, conducted by Cristian Florea (Romania-Germany) will take place at the Organ Hall.  

The participants in the event will be handed the trophy of the Martisor International Music Festival.

The festival’s budget is of about 1.9 million lei this year. Last year, this budget was of 2.7 million lei.

The event is organized by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, in cooperation with the Moldova-Concert Concert and Impresario Organization, Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Organ Hall.     

The first issue of the Martisor International Music Festival took place at the Chisinau-based Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic in 1966. The founder of this festival was the former director of the Philharmonic, the departed Alexandru Fedco.
