Exhibition of 1 March trinkets opened at Moldova's parliament

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - Craftsmen from more regions of Moldova and children from social centres of Chisinau today exhibited their works at the second issue of the fair of Martisors (trinkets worn in honour of 1 March) titled, The Spring which Unites Us, held at the headquarters of the parliament, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.
Attending the inauguration, Deputy Parliament Speaker Vlad Batrincea said that the holiday of Martisor was part of the heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and this means that the tradition, history and culture of Moldova is known all over the world.
Vlad Batrincea thanked the craftsmen who displayed their works for the labour, energy and effort made to make the works, noting that they had brought the holiday of spring to the parliament building today.
The fair’s organizer, MP Arina Spataru said that the 2021 year issue of the fair was held under the slogan, Nobody postpones the spring, with the presence of craftsmen from northern Moldova being a first ever event.
“Our national value – the Martisor – is put at the head of the table here at the parliament,’’ Arina Spataru said.
For her part, a craftswoman from Falesti, Maria Ciobanu, urged everybody to wear the Martisor – the symbol of spring, with heart and soul.
“We are proud that this tradition has reached more countries due to our fellow countrymen who took in their souls all we have the best – the valuable traditions and customs,’’ Maria Ciobanu.
The first issue of the fair of Martisors, The Spring which Unites Us, took place last spring.
