Leadership of Moldova's electoral body meets new composition of electoral commission from Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today had a first meeting with the new composition of the Central Electoral Commission from the Autonomous Unit of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauzia).

CEC head Dorin Cimil congratulated the new members of the CEC of UTA Gagauzia. He noted that e good organization of the elections depended on the efficient and correct management of all processes, as well as on the degree of trust in the electoral institution, stressing that much work, professionalism and dedication was needed for this.

The sides discussed the work of the electoral bodies, inter-institutional cooperation on the electoral and post-electoral period, as well as at the elections for the People’s Assembly of UTA Gagauzia, established by the region’s authorities for 16 May 2021. Among the subjects discussion, there were the functionality of the CEC’s information systems, especially the State Register of Voters and management of electoral lists, improvement of the electoral legislation, as well as the training of electoral civil servants.

The CEC members showed openness for exchanging information and good practices, in order to develop the electoral processes in UTA Gagauzia and adjust them to the national and international standards.
