Moldova's National Extraordinary Public Health Commission establishes special activity regime as of 1 March

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - The National Extraordinary Public Health Commission (CNESP) finds out that the epidemiological situation is quickly worsening in Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

While a decrease in the number of new cases by up to 50 per cent is recorded in the European region countries, an essential increase in the number of new cases and the enhancement of the share of positive interests is registered in Moldova. An average number of 20 deaths is daily recorded in Moldova already.

Therefore, CNESP approved a decision on establishing a special activity regime nationally on the period 1-15 March 2021 inclusively.

Thus, the education will be held online in the primary education institutions, gymnasiums, lyceums, extra-school institutions and vocational schools and higher schools, private and public institutions. The school Olympiads will no longer be able to be held with the physical presence of people.    

At the same time, the presence of spectators in the work of the theatre and concert institutions, as well as community centres is banned and the public transport will be ceased on Saturday and Sunday in the Chisinau city. The Chisinau municipality’s national extraordinary public health commission will establish a limited regime of movement of the public transport in the area of the Chisinau city.   

The public institutions and the private ones will ensure a special working regime, through attracting of the strictly needed staff to work and the distance work will be instructed for the other employees.

CNESP also ruled that, starting from 5 March, people crossing Moldova’s border entering the country will be obliged to present the result of the PCR COVID-19 test negative, made by 72 hours before the arrival. (Exception represent the children up to the age of 5 years, drivers of the vehicles carrying goods and vehicles carrying passengers against cost, crews and staff for the servicing of airships/ships and the brigades and the personnel for the servicing of trains, delegations’ members, cross-border employees, passengers in transit and those who have a confirmative act of the vaccine’s administration).    

The Moldovan fellow countrymen who do not have the test made will be obliged to observe the regime of self-isolation for 14 days, no matter the region from which they come.

We mention that the approval of the restriction measures is reasoned by the enhancement of the incidence, increase in the rate of infectiousness, growth of the number of areas classified as red code of alert, increase in the number of serious forms of the disease, increase in the number of deaths, enhancement of the rate of positivity of tests for SARS-CoV-2, growth of the number of asymptomatic forms, community spread of the disease.   

All these things show tendencies of worsening of the epidemic process of infection with COVID-19 in Moldova. In the context, mass media representatives are recommended to inform the public about the need of strict observance of the measures of prevention and control of the COVID-19 infection.
