Only 12 places for treatment of COVID-19 patients left in hospitals from Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/ - The health services of the Chisinau municipality are overwhelmed by the big increase in the number of patients sick with COVID-19.
At a today’s online meeting of the municipal services, the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, said that the health system from the city had started being overwhelmed by the big number of coronavirus patients. ‘’We have reached the maximum of capacities of hospitalization for the treatment of COVID-19,’’ the mayor noted.
The official said that about 60 per cent of all the Covid patients were treated in municipal hospitals and about 128 million lei has been spent from the municipal budget during one year since the starting of the pandemic. ‘’This money was not returned to the city hall from the national budget,’’ Ion Ceban stressed.
At the same time, the head of the city hall’s Social Assistance and Health General Department, Tatiana Bucearschi, said that there were only 12 free beds for the treatment of coronavirus patients in the Chisinau municipal hospitals. ‘’We have 1,500 places for the treatment of the coronavirus patients. At present, 1,488 beds are occupied: 72 patients are in quite serious condition, 494 ones are in serious condition and 875 are in medium seriousness condition,’’ Bucearschi also said.
Bucearschi specified that the municipal health institutions were prepared for starting the anti-Covid immunization process.
