Intensive care physicians to be first to be immunized against COVID-19

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/- About 10,800 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine will reach hospitals in the country in the coming days, and 1,800 doses will be sent to medical institutions on the left bank of the Dniester.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Tatiana Zatîc said today during a press conference that the first to benefit from vaccine will be the doctors from the intensive care units and the employees from the COVID profile sections. "This campaign will save the lives of doctors and is an important step towards reducing the effects of the pandemic. We rely heavily on this immunization and we are confident that medical workers will be an example to society. It is an important step towards freedom and we hope that in a short time we will be able to vaccinate 70 percent of the country's population ", said Zatîc.

MSMPS noted that the monitoring of the vaccination process will be done through a platform, and the data will be reported to ANSP and MSMPS. In order to be vaccinated, people will need to have an identity card and no special training is required before administering the serum.

Yesterday, Romania donated 21,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to the Republic of Moldova, and in the next few days 14,400 doses of vaccine donated by COVAX should come to Chisinau.

So far, 186,447 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the country. 3,975 people died due to complications caused by the new coronavirus, among 91 medical workers.
