Chisinau city hall asks health ministry to identify additional beds for COVID-19 patients

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban announced that municipal hospitals no longer have places to treat coronavirus patients and asked leadership of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and the National Medical Insurance Company to identify additional beds and places.
He said he had an online discussion with the management of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and the National Medical Insurance Company to identify additional treatment spaces and places.
"We must recognize that today we have the most complicated epidemiological situation since the beginning of the pandemic: in municipal medical institutions we no longer have places to hospitalize patients with COVID-19. We have expanded hospitalization capacity in all municipal medical institutions, we have tripled the number of beds in the intensive care units. I asked the Ministry to activate additional beds in the republican medical institutions, in the departmental hospitals and other spaces under the management of the central authorities ", he said.
According to the mayor, another topic of discussion was the one about ensuring the rhythmic financing, as needed, for the municipal hospitals that ensure the treatment of the patients with COVID.
The topic of COVID-19 vaccination was also addressed. He said that the municipality has prepared all the necessary vaccination infrastructure for stage I and II: medical institutions are ready, vaccination offices are activated, medical staff is trained.
Today, 994 cases of infection with the new coronavirus were confirmed in the Republic of Moldova, and 26 people died as a result of complications caused by COVID-19.
