Chisinau, 3 March /MOLDPRES/- Economic agents, private people and public persons, notaries and intermediaries from Moldova and Romania are being investigated by law enforcement bodies after they helped several Moldovans for money to regain Romanian citizenship.
According to CNA data, the people are part of a scheme of corruption and influence peddling, through which several Moldovans would have been helped to obtain various services for regaining Romanian citizenship, for a fee. The amounts claimed for the documents ranging from 50 to 5,000 euros.
The investigation shows that the suspects allegedly used various platforms to carry out their illegal actions.
It is about websites programare.md, interdoc.info or documente.md, platforms specialized in facilitating the procedures for filling out documents and scheduling at various public institutions.
On Tuesday, CNA officers and prosecutors searched the homes and offices of individuals covered by the scheme, and three of them were escorted to the CNA and detained for 72 hours. Several criminal cases have been opened on their behalf for trafficking in influence and passive corruption, and if found guilty, they risk up to 10 years in prison.
