Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau city hall starts implementing electronic payments in public transport in the capital, in partnership with two electronic payment operators and a commercial bank.
By late March, the most requested trolleybus routes, No10, 22 and 30, and buses No2 and 5 will be equipped with mobile validators for accepting cashless payments.
Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said that electronic tolling in public transport in Chisinau is an ambitious project, but delayed for many years. He said that at the level of the municipality a working group was created, which dealt with the implementation of the project on the electronic charging system in public transport.
"During this period, several scenarios were finalized, to include all categories of citizens, including those who have season tickets for travel by public transport or who benefit from transport facilities. I am glad the pilot project starts in mid-March and is carried out in collaboration with the MasterCard Company. The capital must become a digital one, including in terms of public transport ", he said.
