Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/- Twenty pupils aged between 10 and 18 representing a consortium of educational institutions, rural schools and libraries from different localities of Moldova had the opportunity to talk to astronauts from space.

This became possible thanks to a project carried out by the National Center for Space Technologies (CNTS) within the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), the US Peace Corps in Moldova and the Amateur Radio Service on the International Space Station (ISS), which managed to establish the connection and organize a live conversation of students in our country with astronauts on the International Space Station.

The event took place on 3 March between 13.30 and 15.20, the dialogue being launched and moderated by Edward Kendall, coordinator of the US Peace Corps volunteers in the Republic of Moldova.

The young people were greeted by UTM rector Viorel Bostan, who stressed the importance of space science and technology. He invited the students to convince themselves of the achievements of the UTM researchers in a virtual tour in the spaces of the National Center for Space Technologies.

„UTM scientists involve many teenagers, students in satellite-space field, motivating them to get involved and use these important aspects of scientific research."
