Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/ - The regional development and projects implemented locally represented the main subject of a discussion of President Maia Sandu with Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Angela Ganninger and the country director of the Office of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Moldova, Siegmund Mueller, the presidential press service has reported.
„I wanted to learn more about the programmes carried out by the German Agency for International Cooperation in regions, for municipalities, rural communities. In particular, we discussed infrastructure projects and on the creation of public services, which improve the living of people from our villages and towns,’’ Maia Sandu said.
During the discussion with the German partners, the head of state reiterated her interest to mobilize, in the next years, as many as possible funds due to be used for projects locally. ‘’The direct financing of projects will consolidate the independence of mayors and will give them more freedom in settling the concrete needs of communities. Yet, for this, and for us to enjoy the trust of donors – we will have to build a viable mechanism, which is to ensure the correct management of the funds,’’ President Maia Sandu stressed.
