Moldsilva Agency sets up action plan on International Forest Day

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- Moldsilva Agency has developed a plan of events on International Forest Day, marked every year on 21 March, involving civil society, media, environmental NGOs, local authorities. Particular attention will be paid to actions of planting, sanitation and protection of forest resources.
"This spring is a good opportunity to make previous plans, affected by pandemic effects. In this respect, the national tree planting campaign will continue, aimed to increase the forest areas in our country," Moldsilva said.
Moldsilva Agency director Dumitru Cojocaru said "an exemplary mobilization would allow the planting of about 50 million new trees the next five years".
At the same time, Moldsilva plans planting trees on about 1,134 hectares of land, on 2,527 hectares - works to help regeneration.
"Through the subordinated forestry entities, the necessary conditions will be set up for all public authorities, as well as private people who want to get involved and participate in the planting campaign," the institution said. At the same time, Moldsilva Agency, together with the subordinated forestry entities, will take sanitation measures, aimed at the disposal of household and animal waste, which affects the National Forest Fund.
The United Nations (UN) General Assembly has set International Forest Day to mark and raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests and trees outside forests.
