Moldovan president meets Italian envoy

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu met this morning with Ambassador of Italy to Moldova Valeria Biagiotti, who finished her mission in the country, the presidential press service has reported.

"I thanked Mrs. Valeria Biagiotti for her work full of great achievements, contribution to strengthening Moldovan-Italian economic relations, social development of Moldova and assertion of democratic values. I would also like to appreciate the help offered by Italy under the pandemic ", the president said.

Maia Sandu and Valeria Biagiotti also approached promoting sustainable solutions to protect the interests of our fellow citizens in Italy, the country that hosts the largest community of Moldovans. "It is about key areas, such as social protection, education and recognition of studies. I expressed my conviction we will develop our cooperation both on the commercial dimension, by increasing Italian investments in Moldova, and by signing the social and economic agreements, which we are currently working on ", said Maia Sandu.

The head of state thanked Italy for the support at the level of the European Union, which Moldova has always enjoyed. Finally, Maia Sandu wished Biagiotti every success in her new mission and assured her that she would always have friends in Chisinau.
